He Is Risen: The Greatest Morning in History

An empty tomb, a rolled-away stone, and the news that changed everything — Jesus is alive.

Early on a Sunday morning, the women came to the tomb with spices — and found the stone rolled away, the tomb empty, and an angel with the most wonderful news ever spoken.

He is risen. The Resurrection of Jesus is the heart of the Christian faith: after dying on the cross, Jesus rose from the dead on Easter morning, alive forever.

It’s the joy at the center of everything we believe. Our hand-painted Miniature Saint Statues collection includes a ‘He Is Risen’ figure to keep that joy in view.

What Happened on Easter?

Jesus was crucified and laid in a tomb, sealed with a great stone. His friends were heartbroken. But on the third day, the tomb was empty — Jesus had risen, just as he said he would.

He appeared to Mary Magdalene, to the apostles, and to many others. He was truly alive — not a ghost, not a memory, but risen in his own body, glorified. Death had been beaten, and nothing would ever be the same.

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”

— Matthew 28:6

Why the Resurrection Changes Everything

Without Easter, the story ends in sorrow. With it, everything turns to hope. The Resurrection means Jesus really is the Son of God, that his promises are true, and that death is not the end for those who belong to him.

For a child, that’s the deepest comfort there is. The people we love and lose, the fear of dying, the sadness of goodbyes — all of it is answered by an empty tomb. Jesus is alive, and he opens the way to life that never ends.

Teaching Kids About Easter Joy

Easter is the easiest joy to share with children: Jesus was dead, and now he’s alive! The empty tomb is a picture they can hold onto whenever they feel sad or afraid.

It’s also how we speak about heaven. Because Jesus rose, we trust that those who love him will rise too. Children who grasp the Resurrection carry a hope that can meet even the hardest goodbyes.

A Note for Parents

Say the Easter greeting. “He is risen!” — “He is risen indeed!” is a joyful tradition kids love.

Use the empty tomb. It’s a simple, powerful image of Jesus’ victory over death.

Connect it to hope. Because Jesus rose, we trust we’ll live with him forever.

Keep him in view. A ‘He Is Risen’ figure from our Miniature Saint Statues collection keeps Easter joy on your shelf all year.

Bringing Easter Joy Home

Easter is too big for one day. A ‘He Is Risen’ figure on a shelf carries the joy of that morning through the whole year, reminding the family that Jesus is alive right now.

For a shelf or family altar, look for the ‘He Is Risen’ figure in our hand-painted Miniature Saint Statues collection. And for the little ones, our plush collection offers soft, huggable companions to hold while they pray.

An Easter Prayer

Risen Lord Jesus,
you broke the chains of death
and rose to life on Easter morning.
Fill our family with your joy,
free us from all fear,
and bring us one day to rise with you.
Jesus is risen — alleluia! Amen.

He is risen. Those three words are the foundation of everything — the proof that love is stronger than death, and the promise that, in Jesus, the best is always still to come.

+ + +

Risen Jesus, fill every family with Easter joy, and lead us all to rise with you.
